You've all been asking for a new skill and we've been working on many of them... for season 2.
That said we'd still like to get you all a new skill in season 1 sooner than later!

Fishing!

The plan for the Fishing Skill in Season 1 is to have it be very similar to how fishing in vanilla minecraft works.
There will be checks in place to prevent afk and auto fishing abuse.
The main difference is that you will need to Level Up the Fishing Skill to unlock new fishing zones in the Fishing Village.
  • Leveling up your Fishing skill allows to access higher level fishing zones
  • New area of Spawn called “Fishing Village” that contains a variety of fishing zones
  • These zones are defined by the perimeter block surrounding the water, each zone gives players access to new fish to catch
    • Stone Fishery
    • Iron Fishery
    • Gold Fishery
    • Diamond Fishery
    • Emerald Fishery
    • Obsidian Fishery
    • Glowstone Fishery
    • Prismarine Fishery
    • Bedrock Fishery
Stone Fishery (Unlocked at Level 1 Fishing):
  • Raw Cod
    • Level: 1
    • Sells for 75 Stars (Cooked for 150 Stars)
    • Fishing XP: 10
    • Actual Item: Raw Cod
  • Stone Clam
    • Level: 3
    • Sells for 250 Stars
    • Fishing XP: 15
    • Actual Item: Stone Slab
    • New Recipe Example: Clam Chowder: 4x Stone Clams and 8x Carrots

Reply with your ideas for types of "Fish/Loot" that you can catch based on the examples above!
Get creative and feel free to add more special notes like "used in a new Eco Crafting Recipe - and supply the details" or this rare shark tooth item provides you with strength 2 for 5 seconds when consumed. Really anything and you might see your idea in game when the Fishing update comes out.

We're also open to hearing suggestions on the way you'd like to see Fishing work in Season 1.
To be upfront we have another plan for Fishing in Season 2 along with a number of other skills.

What if each area had its own type of treasure chest that was kind of rare, but not impossible to get. I’m thinking the first one would be maybe slightly worse than a spawn parkour chest and they get increasingly better until the last one, which is similar to a cloud chest. I think that, because the chests get significantly better as you move up in fishing levels, the chance of finding one might have to go down (maybe 5% in the first area but .5% at the last one). I’m not sure if this type of reward would be overpowered or not, just thought it might be cool.

Also, what about different types of rods that each do something different. I’ll update this as I come up with examples. :)

Please have fishing be an alternative to warzone, be able to fish up lost treasure and that lost treasure could be warzone loot and possibly even end game loot. Ofc it would require a lot to obtain it and it would be rare but i think that could be really nice. Maybe even fishing up sun/bolt ranks with a 0.01% chance?

An idea for fishing item classes:
  • There will be four rarity classes to start: common, rare, very rare, and epic(legendary may come at high tier fishing areas).
  • Common items will be fished 75% of the time.
  • Rare items will be fished 15% of the time.
  • Very Rare items will be fished 9% of the time.
  • Epic items will be fished 1% of the time.


An idea for iron fishery(copied from the format in the update):

Iron Fishery (Unlocked at Level 5 Fishing):
  • Raw Salmon
    • Common item
    • Level: 5
    • Sells for 150 Stars (Cooked for 300 Stars)
    • Fishing XP: 20
    • Actual Item: Raw Salmon
  • Metal scrap
    • Rare item
    • Level: 7
    • Does not sell
    • Fishing XP: 35
    • Actual Item: Iron nugget
    • Custom crafting recipe: 10 metal scraps and 25 string crafts an Iron Fishing Rod*
  • Iron ore seed
    • Epic item
    • Not sure how levels would apply to this
    • Fishing XP: 150


*Iron Fishing Rod:
  • Reduced fishing time by 5%
  • Common item fish chance reduced from 75% to 70%
  • Rare item fish chance increased from 15% to 18%
  • Very rare item fish chance increased from 9% to 10.9%
  • Epic item fish chance increased from 1% to 1.1%

Idea:
  • Rarer and better fishing rods can be obtained at later stages

  • Epic items will be fished 1% of the time. These are items like ore seeds, spawners, openables and the like.
    • It may be best to lower the catch chances of this. The percent now is just a placeholder.

I think you should have something like in there is a easy medium and hard boss in fishing. The way to do these bosses is to fish obliviously and craft bait, the bait will be made from the fish you catch like the easy boss can be made from fish from ranges level 3 to 6, and medium 8-12 and so on and so forth. These boss fish can drop better enchants for your fishing rod so you're not just getting some money or shards from the bosses to make it interesting and intense for what loot you will get from the bosses. The bosses can be like the ones from original skybounds like placing the boss on your island and such or for harder bosses you can go into the boss arena and sacrifice your egg so everyone else can have a shot at fighting the boss.

I would love to see the fishing enchants actually used. Lure Luck and unbreaking. Being able to get some items that are not fish (Maybe warzone loot rarely) would be really cool. This would also be a good way to obtain wet sponges as a drop.

My ideas for fishing
One let there be varying size of fishes
With theses varying size of fish let there be a CATCH OF THE DAY
Id also like a chance for there to be very low odds of special variety of a fish called prime so there would be like a raw cod and then a PRIME cod which would just be a enchanted cod what youd be able to do with these prime fish is for every fishing permeter you unlock there will be a npc that you can trade the corrosponding prime fish too so the first fishing area will have willy the fisherman where you can reddem only prime cod or clam for either a little boost of fishing xp so its not just go to next area grind 4x more then last area theres some rng in prgressing faster in lvling. And of course lets there be more redeemable rewards to prime fish other then just a little boost in xp maybe 1 prime cod can be redeemed for 2 stacks of raw cod(or more) like
