    HELLO GAMERS,

    I just read a post about P2W and economy concerns in Skybounds. It made me want to create this thread to organize get the community involved and organize our best ideas.

    Up front - the post wasn't toxic. The responses on it weren't too bad either. It's was a good discussion that we should be having.
    But I wanted to take it to a new post so we can focus on my points below:

    Admittedly, yes, the economy is not perfect. However, I believe you're looking in the wrong place.
    SkyBounds is essentially an MMORPG. All MMORPG's can suffer from poorly scaled economy.
    As more people play there's more in game currency being generated. As more people level up EVEN MORE in game currency is being generated. Regardless of P2W Rank Kits there's going to constantly be more cash injected into the game. For clarity the Rank Kit Star Notes are a bit OP at the higher island levels still and we want to find good ways to balance that without ruining Team based Islands.

    So the question really is - where does all that in game currency go?

    That's what we are trying to figure out behind the scenes.
    Currently Stars are spent on:
    • Island Levels (Gain access to new unlocks that help you earn more Stars)
    • Robots (Help you automate your Island to earn more Stars)
    • Auto-Chests, Teleporters, Ranks from other Players, and other valuable in game items as purchases from other players via the Auction House... (Again what's the goal from this: to automate and industrialize your Island to make more Stars)
    So again... if every objective of earning Stars is to earn Stars more effectively... Where do all the new excess Stars go? That's the economy getting thiccc, with three c's. Major inflation.

    Regardless of P2W prices on items will go up over time as more in game currency enters the game.
    P2W certainly adds to the problem - but mildly so. Of course you can counter argue that the top Islands have many accounts with Ranks... those players would've been #1 anyways because they also play the most.

    SO...
    • Early Game is currently really well balanced and fun (could always use more fun content though!)
    • Mid Game is fun learning how to automate your island, but it would be nice to have more to do than Level up your Skills and Build up your Island to help earn more Stars
    • Late to End Game is currently just more of the Mid Game but with more Island automation
    What should Stars be used for that can be enjoyed by players at all stages of SkyBounds Gameplay?
    That is the real question that we are trying to find a good answer to.
    We have ideas and plans (that will take time to be developed), but we are always open to hearing more from our community. Please try to think of things that are accessible to all levels of players... not things like "10 Billion Stars for THIS!" that again only widens the gap between the top players and beginners.

    What do you think?

    Add more shopkeepers. Things like nature items for two block tall flowers, cosmetic items you can purchase in game, add more content such as more warzone islands, more PVE based things for islands like skills, new purposes for new robots, new parkours that AREN'T IN WARZONE, things like that. There is so much left to be done, and obviously we know you have plans for a lot of this.

    One major thing missing though is /trails and /prefixes from the old skybounds. We need more of those to roll out that are worthwhile to get.


    Maybe make ranks more accessible in game, i.e. adding them to warzone loot, same with a few prefixes. Make cosmetics exclusive to warzone loot, openables, etc etc. This would direct some of the stars away from progression and to more fun things, that would in turn slow down the inflation rates.

    mitch you said it yourself in the vid having to grind for that 10mil just to farm sugarcane was a bit much and so is there a way to lower that a smidge so its no so taxing.if not that's fine. just wanted to put that out there. also a few times now(not going to list the number). i dc'ed whilst still in the wz not cb tagged or anything yet when i logged on my inventory was cleared. if there is anything that could be done it would be greatly appreciated.

    Honestly, I think this is well written, and I saw that post on the P2W and such like that. But then again, where would we be without the p2w players. if a lower player gets an OP item, they can sell it to the p2w people and they get alot of money. So theres 2 sides to this battle. I think stars should be spent for unlocking kits, instead of immortal kits, maybe some kind of other kit, where you take stars to unlock it, and it progressively gets more expensive, and only a certain island lvl and up can access it. also, there could be more locked parts of the warzone, in like warzone 2 and 3. there are endless possibilities tbh.

    Also, maybe we could have things such as prestiges? on the server, where, after you reach like island lvl 25, you can prestige your island, so skills reset, but your island stays the same? that could be a major spending of stars there

    Thanks for the reply. We definitely want to add more trails, prefixes and cosmetics.
    Our next update will feature a new Warzone Unlockable Island, spawner, ore and crop... so there's more coming.

    But none of this will really have an impact on the Economy, it's definitely going to be fun to explore and use these new resources. However, it won't provide a major use purpose for Stars.

    I can't do anything about the combat tag issue other than making sure you know we are very well aware.
    The team is working on a custom anti-cheat of our own that way we can prevent the annoying kicks that are costing people their god sets. It'll also allow us to have a far more reliable anticheat to stop real hackers from causing problems.

    The economy really keeps growing at a bigger scale each day. I remember buying boost gems for 5 mil per and now they're worth 40mil. Same thing with ranks, the price on those gets higher each day (and more and more rarer items). Prices on items everyone wants to get their hands on going up makes it hard for the people who cant P2W to gain money more difficult to achieve which is unfortunate but there isnt really anything to be done about that.

    The 'End Game' is rather stale in my opinion because of this, until new content is rolled out the only real things people are investing in is the things Mitch stated in his post, is level, robots, etc. I'm pretty excited to see things like bosses come out and see how they affect all stages of the game, and all the new content that'll hopefully spice up the end game stages of the game.

    I think adding ways to get limits higher like adding Skill Increase Tokens in warzone chests / ancient runes / parkour chests
    + More Limits = More Stars = More purpose for stars

    Can definitely add new ways to get Skill Increasers... but your math equation I can't say I agree with.
    Not sure more stars = more purpose... pretty sure it just equals a thicccer more inflated economy.

    What if there was some way, we could tie Warzone loot and /kit items, to the amount of xp you have, we would obviously have to find a way so players cant obtain more xp, but like the exp in the bottom bar. If you take that, and the more exp you have, the best chance of better warzone loot you have. So then it focuses on grinding and playing, more then buying and buying

    For the idea's with stars part, I think a Crafting Book spinner type item would be cool. For a certain amount of stars you can have a chance at getting any crafting book, including some of the high end ones at a low chance, which will make the end game crafting recipes more obtainable for a star drain.

    We do have some plans for new XP uses. So that should be okay, it's still the Stars economy that is more concerning. Appreciate the input on the XP glad to see others thinking about it too

    not to steal ideas but hey other mmos have done it to..... not just mc servers

    a actual Auction hall (rename existing player listing or something) so items can be bid over x amount of time

    same concept as above but a npc run underground auction hall thats announced in chat maybe acessed from a safe zone in warzone where a random npc would appear and he would auction off the rarer items of skybounds
    say 1~3 item per appearance with and random spawn time announced like what 1~2mins before he appears with random spawn times hours apart

    powerful unique tools with low durability that cant be fixed sold by a npc
    example: a unfixable wooden sword with say looting 10/sharpness 5/ and butcher 7 (enchants that normally cant be obtained) maybe a pickaxe and axe/armor same concept

    example: for armor would be like a immunity armor that prevents damage for like up to x amount of hits but you cant be holding anything in your main or offhand

    oh and....
    ability to name items at cost of stars kinda like old skybounds had
    but bunch preset words that cost x amount per word with more cost per amount words in name
    maybe with costume color/effects (and upgading pvp kill message to include name of weapons used) and maybe toss some admin ran evens like kill another player with funnyest named weapons or a weapon named (insert combination of words) 1st
